I think we're finally back to our normal routine. Between Ben's vacation and a short bout with the flu we've been all off schedule. But it has been a fun week since we got back home!

Our flight home from NJ was wonderfully uneventful. The kids were so well behaved. Sara loved "taking off into the sky" and "coming in for a landing!" Her favorite parts were having her own carry on backpack and getting her own pretzels.

Not a whole lot has been going on since then, we've been keeping things pretty low key and Sara is just happy to play with her kitchen and read her new books. She has already memorized "Imogene's Antlers" and "The Foot Book" David likes his truck - see him sitting to play with it? It makes revving sounds and he is fascinated.

Some Sara quotes for your enjoyment: "I want to stay in my bath for my whole life!" "My dolly is named Grandma Z" "David is kind of wet" (in reference to a slobbery kiss he gave her). "I'm doing it! I get a prize!" for going on the potty. It's my new strategy; a piece of food or dishes for her kitchen every time she goes. I hope this works! She got a tea pot today. She has also been singing the Veggie Tales song pretty clearly and loves Larry the Cucumber.

Sara is asleep now after a big dinner at Culver's and a trip to Lowe's. She loves the lighting section. "Drive this way, Daddy! So bright!" Someday when she's a teenager I'll remind her how easy it used to be to entertain her on a Friday night.

David is still giggling at Ben. He did not sleep so well last night, at least not in any kind of continuous fashion. As Sara says "Davey was a wakey snoose last night" I have to admit that snoose was a silly name I gave Sara when she was little and it just stuck. She even gets a little jealous "Davey is NOT Mommy's snoose. I am!" We compromise: she is my snoosa. Don't laugh at me, it's hard to admit my goofyness to all who read this. Blame the mommy hormones! But it's so cute when she uses my silly words.

So we will hope for better sleep tonight. He ate like a monster and has pooped out a ton already this evening, so he should be good to go. We'll see!

I use a funny voice talking to my bird, so I can totally see myself using made-up words if I'm ever a parent. Be proud of the goofyness, Emily! :)
